Year-Round Enjoyment: A Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Retreat

The Brief
Our clients wanted to fully enjoy their outdoor space throughout the year, regardless of Victoria’s variable weather. They envisioned an indoor-outdoor area that offered protection from the elements while seamlessly connecting to their natural surroundings.

The Design Approach
We designed a tranquil retreat that integrates indoor comfort with outdoor beauty. Existing trees were to be preserved, which not only enhanced the visual appeal but also contributed to the site’s soil stability.

Key Features Of The Space

• Preserving Natural Surroundings
  Existing trees were carefully incorporated into the design. The deck framework was built around the trees, with allowances made for future growth. The foundations were dug down to the rock layer, ensuring stability below the reactive root zone.

• Indoor-Outdoor Flexibility
  The new space offers the best of both worlds. Two sides of the room are fitted with bifold doors, allowing the area to be opened up completely in good weather.

• Framed Views Of Nature
  Windows were strategically placed to capture views of particular trees.

The Result
The completed project delivered a serene and versatile indoor-outdoor area that meets the clients’ needs. It’s ideal for working from home, relaxing, or entertaining guests, regardless of the season.
